Hypnosis and Reiki

Hypnosis and Reiki are often treated like they belong in two different rooms.
One sits in the “mind work” category, clinical-ish, structured, eyes closed, subconscious focused. The other floats in the “energy work” space, hands hovering, subtle shifts, sensations you can’t quite explain but also can’t argue with because your nervous system already signed the contract.
But in practice? They don’t just get along. They overlap in a way that makes you wonder why anyone ever separated them in the first place.
Because both are trying to do the same thing through different doors:get you out of survival mode and back into coherence.
Hypnosis just takes the mind route.
Reiki takes the energetic route.
And when you combine them, it stops feeling like “work” and starts feeling like your whole system finally agreeing to unclench at the same time.
Not dramatically. Not performatively.
Just… oh. There it is.
what is Reiki

Reiki is a gentle energy-based practice that supports relaxation, balance, and overall well-being. It works by helping the body settle into a calmer state, allowing stress and tension to ease while the system naturally returns to a sense of flow and regulation.
Reiki supports the energetic + physical processing
Reiki doesn’t guide thought or analysis. It supports the system through energetic calming, release, and regulation. When people are in a hypnotic state, they are already highly receptive. Adding Reiki in that space can support a deeper sense of grounding, relaxation, and emotional flow — especially when strong material is being processed.
It’s not about changing the hypnosis. It’s about supporting the system while the hypnosis is already doing its work.
How they integrate in a session

Reiki doesn’t replace hypnosis or compete with it. It can be woven in as a supportive presence while the subconscious mind is engaged. For some clients, this shows up as a deeper physical relaxation during trance. For others, it supports emotional release without the system feeling overwhelmed or stuck in reactivity. And for others, it simply allows the experience to feel more settled and contained while they move through deeper inner material. It’s subtle, but noticeable.
Hypnosis helps create awareness and access. Reiki helps support the body’s response while that access is open. When both are present, the experience can feel more integrated — not because more is being done, but because the system is being supported on multiple levels at once.
The mind is engaged. The body is supported. And the experience has space to move through without resistance building up in the same way it might otherwise.
In practice
What clients often notice is not a dramatic “shift between modalities,” but a smoother experience overall. Sessions feel grounded while still being deep. Processing feels supported rather than overwhelming. And there’s often a sense that the work is moving through both mind and body at the same time, without needing to separate those experiences. It doesn’t become about two separate processes happening side by side.
It becomes one experience—held, steady, and allowed to unfold without interruption.
And that’s where it settles.
